Covid Check-in

Hi all,

I believe most of us have been looking at 2020 the exact same way. I hope you are staying healthy and encouraged during these unpredictable times. As most of us have heard the term new norm tossed around, I found myself in the work from home funk. You know the one… spontaneous showers, poor eating habits, burning through countless Netflix original series’. If you have no clue what I am talking about, kudos to you. As the candle dims on Zoom happy hours, and you have reorganized all the cabinets in your kitchen… I wanted to send some tips to the virtual workers that have found themselves in a similar rut.

Take 5Find time that is solely for you. No phone, tv, computer, pets, etc… Take a few moments to do something that lets your mind rest. For me, it is my morning walk. I make it a point to never sit at my computer, until I have brewed a cup of coffee and had my morning stroll. This has given me a chance to gather myself before jumping in front of the beloved Zoom app. Try to find something that gives you some personal time.

EngageChallenge yourself to embrace the new work environment. How? Chat with your coworkers a bit. My team and I have started conducting their one on ones via facetime. Weather permitting we have walking meetings. The fresh air is good for us all. I have heard some very creative ways that teams have stayed connected with one another. Feel free to share some in the comments.

RechargeWe have 4 months left in 2020. Use your PTO. Take some days away from the responsibilities of the 9-5. I am sure you have earned it.

Believe it or not, studies show that people work harder from home. When you have your coffee brewed and are working from your couch, you crank out more emails and calls than you do in the office.

I appreciate you reading. Talk soon.

Cheers,

Cortney Crape
