Productivity Rant

My Rant:

This week I finally caught Quincy on Netflix. I was blown away by how much he has accomplished, and is still accomplishing today, at the age of 85. That man has a ton of grit. Check it out if you haven’t.

I keep thinking that my generation and generations to follow have a huge amount of resources (some more useful than others), and on the flip side of that we have tons of distractions.

Older generations may not have been able to Skype, email, instant message, text, etc, to collaborate, but they were able to lock themselves away to innovate. Meetings were way more productive when you knew that there was no email to follow from the meeting you were just in for 90 mins. One could argue that our resources give us a want to “over collaborate”. I am surely not the only person that despises having the meeting about the meeting.

A friend of mine recommended the book titled: Deep Work, that really has forced me to assess my personal productivity level.

I wish there was a way for us to sock away some of the free time we have daily, but there is no way to do that, so it’s time to get moving. We have so many things that we WANT to accomplish, but are we really maximizing this precious time that we are given on a daily?

Cheers,
